Subject:Re: CX-3 data corruption and MIDI dump question

This sounds like a loose connection in one or more of the cables that interconnect the PC boards. Sometimes, a loose connection not only causes switches or lights to fail, but it also causes strange output on the display. If re-seating the connectors doesn't fix the problem, then you need a repair visit to a tech. I can't think of any reason that a data dump would cause the problems you're seeing.

No data was actually being sent to the CX-3 so I just hit Exit to correcty my mistake but after that my CX-3 programs suddenly had strange characters in their name and if I select any other program than the one it comes up with (A-1 Organized) using the 1-8 or - + keys it switches to EX mode.

My Fantom sequencer (which records everything on every channel including SysEx) did not record anything any my XV-5080 which has MIDI activity LED showed no activity. I have plenty of experience with MIDI data dumps but only with Roland synths.
