Didn't one of the Art tube pre's have a USB audio interface for DAW apps? even for clonewheel use, the idea is to pump as much signal before it converts to digital, you will have a much cleaner tone... using your preamp even if its just for gain will help. your DAW sampling settings.... 16/44.1? 24/96? or higher, there is a difference in it being "digital-sounding" are you dithering it when you master-render back to 16/44.1? that makes a big difference too.
