Subject:Re: What do you laptoppers set your laptop on at gigs?
Doug,
I use an SKB Studio Flyer 4U rack case, which holds my MacBook securely on top. (It has velcro adjustable grips to hold the laptop base in place). Not sure if it's the best solution for you, but thought I'd throw it out there.
Also, regarding the reference in this post to the Edirol PCR-800: I've had mine for a month now. Very solidly built interface. Granted, the case is light and made of plastic; but it appears to be well made. The sliders, knobs, and keys feel good - somewhat like a more expensive Roland keyboard. Does the job well, and the front panel is fairly straightforward; the manual is ok - slightly better than old Japanese manuals, but still could use some improvement...

It finally looks like I have a nice, fairly compact rig for doing live shows this summer:
Alesis 76-key Quadrasynth for controller for organ and pianos
Arturia 33-key controller for Moogs, etc
Evolution UC33-E for VB3 drawbar controller
MacBook w/ Apogee Duet running Akoustik Piano, Elektrik Piano, Pro-53 & VB3 under RAX 3.0
Behringer 6 ch mixer and DI Box
I need two stands/tables, one for each side of my main keyboard stand:
- stand on left side will have the UC-33E and mixer, they need to be side by side
- stand on right side will have MacBook and Duet, can be on separate shelves, I don't need to access the Duet
- I need something sturdy, yet portable/foldable. Also inexpensive, if possible (I need two!)
- I sit when I play keys, so these stands only need to be 26" tall, 24" wide, 16" deep
Any suggestions? Apologies if I've asked this in the past, but I have 2 weeks to get these stands so it's a race against the clock at this point.
Thanks,
Doug
