Subject:Re:Mic'd Leslie EQ Settings

I like to place the mics inside the cabinet. The philosophy is to pickup more internal reflections along with the direct sound as the horn or rotor approaches.

For the horn I place them right up against the internal walls of the Leslie. Make certain they are unable to move - or you may kiss a horn goodbye.

The rotor mic goes directly next to - and parallel to the power amp.

No mics are directly facing the rotor or horn. This give a very nice balance - a little more like listening in a room as opposed to whoop-whoop.

For EQ I dump everything below and above the crossover frequencies for the respective component. Assume 800 HZ then a little for the slope.

Also, if possible, shelve everything below and above the working frequencies of a Hammond. Although up to discussion - maybe cut below your lowest bass note you expect to play - and cut everything above 10k. There will not be much there - and you will be getting rid of unwanted noise

Please let us know how this works for you
