Subject:Re: Nord C1 live clip

This is one of the first live clips I have heard of the C1 using the classic
chorus vibrato jazz sound. The reason I like this is that it gives a good
point of comparison between a clone and a tonewheel console.

I think the chorus vibrato sounds pretty good on this ( the playing is good
too, but I am discussing mainly the organ sound). I also agree with Lou that
the organ in the mix a bit thin, and bright in the top end.

This makes sense if the mix was taken from the board. An actual console
would sound fairly bright if the preamp from the console was the only thing you
were hearing.

This clip shows that the C1 has a lot of potential if it is matched with
good amplification. I am not sure if a typical P.A. monitor is right for organ
reproduction. A lot of P.A. speakers are overly bright...... for a long time I
used to love using a lower end Yamaha P.A. speaker as a vocal monitor,
because some of the higher end monitors I was hearing were just too intense to me.
My clone set up sounded good through that thing too until someone stole it.

The C1 sounds good in the midrange in this clip. I would be very curious to
hear a C1 through a leslie with no chorale or a speaker system that didn't
emphasize the highs so much.
