I'm playing in a 9-piece ska/funk band at the moment, and I actually use a clean Hammond/fast Leslie sound with a bit of percussion - it's close to what was used on a lot of original 1960s ska. Check it out on www.indiecharts.com/skanks, especially "Life Could Be So Good" and "Moneygrabber". We also do a cover of Don Drummond's "Man In the Street" on which I use a Wurlitzer piano sound. My only keyboard is a Casio WK-3000 - I think it sounds pretty convincing.
