Subject:Re: Looking for Feedback on good speaker amp for Nord C1
Hi All,
This forum works as a collab workflow so myself can learn and share even when I won't buy Mackie, btw here they are not represented here but well known as in N.A., just mainly lot of JBL and/or European cheaper lines of P.A. products, lastly talking a lot of line array stuff.
Now I'm analyzing what I read, see , quoted specifically this:
",The piezo tweeter is poor but the 15 inch speaker covers
the highs pretty well" , think that should be like overlapping frequencies.
Wondered in which way a 15" that needs a piezo horn, can reproduce
high frequencies ?
IMO ordinary piezos (usually very cheap) can't achieve the clarity of phenolic or silk dome .
Seems that even of being an extended loudspeaker (very expensive piece)
it would need kinda of coaxial cone for finely reproduce freq. beyond 4 kHz
Imagine something like in car-audio speakers but bigger and stronger.
It's known that the less speaker diameter the more it can achieve high frequencies.
Just an evidence: anybody looking at largest manuf. as Eminence is, will notice that a 10" loudspeaker gets higher freq. than their 12" or 15" counterpart series.
QUESTION:
Did anybody notice that Emin. is replacing heavy series with lightweight ones (good news for S/H) , conversely magnets many times the power of now old series ?
Anybody in need of changing their woofer (i.e. Motion-S gear) have already used them neodymium magnets ?
Best,
Rafael

I'm using a Markbass 15 inch traveller bottom(35 lbs) that pushes 400
watts and a Markbass Little Mark II(5 lbs) amp for my C1 with pretty
good results,
The piezo tweeter is poor but the 15 inch speaker covers the highs pretty well.
There is a high mid hump that can be eq'ed out through the eq on the amp.
And if you want loud where the tone does
not change as you get loud you got it.Works well with a Motion Sound
Pro 3T also.
For gigs it's 2 trips from the car including a "gig seat"
and keyboard stand not including the Pro 3T.

Lawrence
