Subject:Re: Vintage russian tubes.
Hi friends,
Let me share what I was told by now 70 years old engineer, working all their life with tubes
Until today doing fine reproductions of classic tube amps.
Think this isn't a shameless plug can as never shouldn't be spam, or addressing a sale, regarding that S/H from here should cost than amp itself.
So let's say that it's only informative:
www.jorgeson.com
He mainly uses JJ code tubes, as they are the ones with better ratio when pushing voltages to the limit (usually beyond of 400v DC)
Usually are known as TESLA in the tube pros jargoon.
The actual Svetlanas from Saint Petersburg are these shown by Google:
Svetlana Tubes - Russian Vacuum Tubes made by Svetlana in St ...
Official Svetlana Tubes website - Vacuum tubes Manufactured in St. Petersburg, Russia.
www.svetlana-tubes.com/ - 3k
Sadly, these pages aren't available for US/Canada customers.
but you can try with this trick:
http://www.svetlana-tubes.com/svetlana.htm
If anybody can't see it, please write me a private and I can send a little trick to surpass geographical IP address verification
Wonder if the Winged-C brand (C in ciryllic is equal S) comes from any restriction to svetlana-tubes.com selling tubes with that female name in N.A.
To be fair, let me say that Google also retrieve this
www.svetlana.com/ - 64k
By qualified opinions, The ones I named first are the older Svetlana ones, I don't say other aren't Russian , only say that they are 'old ones ' the known in the US under the 'Winged C' name.
(actually in latin alphabet should be written ' winged S' S coming from C letter of cyrillic alphabet.
Have seen years ago cross tables for translating Russian to Latin alphabet tube codes.
Hope that helps.
Rafael
