Jamie,
I did some resistance readings on my CX-3 pedal and, if you have an ohm meter, you can compare with what I found. The connector for the pedal is a TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) connector. The tip is obviously at the end, the ring is the middle connector, and the sleeve is the upper connector most toward the cable (sorry if this is review, just making sure).
Tip to Sleeve is always about 50K ohms.
Pedal in the UP position (lowest sound output):
Sleeve to Ring resistance is 19 ohms.
Tip to Ring resistance is 50K ohms.
Pedal in the DOWN position (highest sound output):
Sleeve to Ring resistance is 50K ohms.
Tip to Ring resistance is 20 ohms.
Measuring those points will quickly tell you if your pedal is operating correctly. The pedal simply looks to me like a pot with the wiper on the ring and the endpoints on the tip and sleeve. If your measurements look like mine, the problem may be connector on the back panel or something inside the enclosure. My bet is either: 1) a bad TRS connector, or 2) a broken wire somewhere. Let us know what you find!
