I've watched that Nord C1 vs. Hammond C3 multiple times. There are some
very minor differences in the tone, however, every Hammond sounds just a
little bit different - as we all know. I think the point that the guy in
the video was trying to make was that the overall fullness of the tone
matches the vintage Hammond perfectly. In that respect, I tend to agree.
The C/V is dead on and the key click sounds perfect too.
There was a second video where the same guy was comparing the C1's
leslie simulator to a real Leslie. When it comes to the logistics of it,
yes, there are differences in rotor speed and ramp up and down times,
however, again, I really don't think that was the point of the video. In
terms of overall sound, the C1 has the best simulator of any clone I've
heard. I don't think anything will ever reproduce the sound of genuine
moving air, however, the C1 almost matches it completely where other
clones have missed it.
