Subject:Re: Tube guitar amp for Leslie amp replacement
Hi Danny,
I happen to be experimenting with a homemade 5-watt guitar amp as the
amp for a Leslie, and this is my new setup for practicing. I would
think that 60 watt is a bit overkill, and might be concerned about the
top driver, but if it's what you want I would suggest that you match
the impedance of the amp and speakers. Actually a 40-watt amp might be
a safer bet.
What's nice with a low-wattage tube amp is that you can get that
authentic tube overdrive at a reasonable volume (but can still be
LOUD! (5watt=half as loud as 50watt)). This is great for
practicing/recording.
I would also try to buy an original Leslie crossover, or one that was
made according to Leslie specs.
just my 2c
