Subject:Yamaha P-200/ noisy keys / (upstop felt?)
I recently came across a Yamaha P-200 at a price that was hard to refuse. I
am getting back to playing a weighted keyboard after struggling with
tendonitis issues a few years back.
Even though the keyboard was in great shape when I got it, the keys are
noisier than I would like. I strongly suspect the upstop felt, as the keys make
a noticeable clunk when they return to resting position.
I am just curious if anyone else who has used a P series keyboard from this
era has tried to remedy this. These were extremely popular keyboards and quite
expensive at 2K plus when they were new.
I like having the internal speakers at home. I also like the programmable
drawbar organ feature. This gives me a nice 808000000 type sound for
practicing and the percussion on it is not bad either. The vibes and acoustic bass and
splits are nice. I much prefer this acoustic bass to some of the newer
Yamahas I have heard. It's kind of hard to believe that people used to gig with
these.... they are so heavy.
If anyone knows how to reduce the noisiness of these keys please reply.
