Subject:Any news about the XK-3 upgrade?
Hi all,
It's all said in the topic. Any news about upgrades for the old Hammond XK-3? At the moment I run mine (use it in my XK-3 system in a foldable custom B3 cab, easily removed for use as a combo organ) through a real leslie, have the key- and release clicks at zero (still enough left there but the annoying re-triggering artificial click is gone) and I use C-2 because C-3 sounds too harsh and stark for my taste. I wish I had an authentic sounding C-3 setting in my scanner vibrato/chorus section. I think the XK-3c has it down now.
Also: any idea how I can replace the vacuum tubes by better ones. What are the recommended types and where can I get them. Perhaps the ones used for the XK-3c would fit and might be available as spare parts?
Not that I am unsatisfied with my XK-3, it sounds fine and from what I heard on YouTube (good enough for me) it isn't that dramatic an improvement anyway. The static keyclick remains and the leslie sim still isn't a real leslie.
Thanks for any information anyway,
Christian
