I actually took possession of my PC3x 4 weeks ago. There’s a lot to love about that machine. The orchestral and VA stuff is pretty fantastic. The pianos you will either love or hate, depending on your previous bias. As for KB3 mode, it’s good for a synth, but probably not for a dedicated clone/Hammond user.

a K2600XS as well as currently owning a PC2X, all I can say is....

The good people at Kurzweil have managed to outdo the K2600
series (with the exception of no sampling) with a much more powerful
VAST engine, a KDFX unit that puts their $2500 KPS8 to shame, a
revived VA1 (virtual analogue) that nobody thought would ever see the
light of day, updated samples as well as entirely new banks... the
list just goes on and on.

The Classic Keys ROM has been updated with some programs being 16
layers deep. The K26xx series had a thing called Triple Modular
Processing where you could send a VAST program into another and into
another. Now you can do that with 32 separate layers.

All this stuff is OT with the exception of the KB3 modelling,
which I can't speak to sufficiently. I hope that one of you guys can
get your hands on one and report back to the group. On the down side
for the cloners, is the fact that it's a weighted keyboard, though
their 76 key version is planned to be released in another 6 months or
so. On the plus side, is the 9 sliders and 9 buttons dedicated to B3
emulation when in KB3 mode. They supposedly have a Leslie emulation
that will put a dent in the marketplace. I don't have enough
experience around the real thing (once again) to give an educated
opinion here. I'll leave that for others.
