Subject:Re: Dual Manual Clones
Like WJ said, Roland is not making VK-88 any more. I think you can
still get VK-88 or VK-77 somewhere, but they are older clones
compared with C1 and XK3 system. Personally I didn't like VK-88 (VK-
8) because their keys have double trigger, but it was too sensitive,
so when I played fast bebop lines, almost every note was double
triggered, and it sounded terrible. The sound was a little bit dull
compared with XKs and C1.
XK-3 System is expensive, but it's easier to move. Well, if I were
you, I also would think about getting Hammond A-100 with leslie. You
might be able to get the whole thing less than $3000. If I had a
large space and didn't think about moving, I would get A-100 and
Leslie 122 or 147. I sometimes saw nice A-100 for $2000 or less on
ebay and craigslist.
Well, if you get a clone, I recommend C1 or XK-3 system. Hammond-
Suzuki's customer survice is great, and that's also important.
