Subject:Re: [SpeakeasyVintage] Re: Weekend with the RB3 Flatpack/Keypack

I’ve been experimenting with the KeyPack, which is the Flatpack without a horn box. (In other words, a “straight” keyboard amp, no rotary, with Speakeasy Tube pre built in and a 250watt amp, 12” and horn.) I think that for the Nord Electro (I don’t have a Stage to test it with), this is without a doubt the coolest, meanest amp you can get. If you’re looking for a really all-in-one rotary/straight amp, the Flatpack with the “Bo option” is absolutely unbeatable. Not only does the Electro organs sound killer through the Flatpack rotary, but without the rotary, using the Electro sim, it sounds fantastic. The Electro clav and wurli and acoustic piano (yeah, ACOUSTIC PIANO!) sound KILLER through this amp. I’m actually going to do some gigs with just my XK1, Electro (for non-organs) and Flat/Keypack rig. I’ve been dialing in the Electro for Wurli and Clav (with wah and distortion) for weeks, and now hearing the Electro’s Acoustic piano through the KeyPack, this is just a
really gutsy rig to complement a heavy bluesy rock band. If you’re looking for a small yet versatile and tonally powerful rig, an Electro and the FlatPack with “rotary in/out” option is really unbeatable. Bo is right, this is really the Sh!t.

I posted this response on the Nord Stage group, but thought that this
might be a better place, and perhaps other Flatpack/Keypack owners (or
Speakeasy folks) can chime in. I'm just interested in a little more
about how the set up works, and if you have an AMA/preamp either in a
rack or in the Roadbox, etc....

Hi Bo,
Since you have the 250W amp, I'm wondering if you have an AMA in the
Roadbox, and if
so, if you switch it off when you switch over to the "Keypack" set up.
Thanks,
Phil
