Both for live and recording SM57's are an excellent choice for micing up
Leslies.
They capture the tone really well and are not overly prone to feedback.
I'd recommend SM57's anytime for use on leslies.
To avoid feedback live: place the leslie close to yourself so the leslie
is your monitor. Don't run the signals from the mics to your wedge. This
always works for me and I've seen many other players do it this way.
Leslies are able to go fairly loud. If you go louder than that something
is really badly wrong with the overall stage volume of the band. This
WILL hurt your ears and you WILL regret it when that happens.
