I am the big OT guy so I'll chime in!
I have not tried the Roland but everyone loves the MicroKorg. It is the
small keys that bug some people. Back when I was in the market for a small
synth I was torn between the MicroKorg and the Alesis Micron. I went with
the Alesis. These little virtual analog synths are a lot of fun and not too
much investment.
