Subject:Re: Is the CX3's internal power supply auto-switching?
The actual electronics should never behave differently. That's a sign of a problem. The purpose of the power supply is to convert the voltage supplied by the receptacle to the exact
voltage needed by the electronics inside your equipment. Most of the internal electronics run
on low voltage DC electricity. If you change from 110 to 220 volts AC you need to change
how the power is transformed so that the electronics end up being supplied by the exact
same voltage. This is not hard.
One could place a 220-110 transformer between the receptacle and your equipment. The transformer would need enough watts or amps to power your equipment. You could also
change how the electricity is transformed inside the equipment.
But the electronics must end up with the exact same voltage. If not, you could be damaging
your equipment.
