Hello, Dave.
That was the best endorsement I have heard yet for the VK88. It seems the other clones
are more favored by this group. I initially chose it for its real organ interface, portability,
and MIDI. (I have much more experience with theater analog). So I was also impressed by
the extra chorus sounds. After I got it I joined this group and have been learning
everything I can about the Hammond sound. That organ has opened up a whole other
world of organ for me. I'm learning Billie Holiday's Mellow song right now. For blues I
really like the piano added to the drawbars on the lower manual. Then I add acoustic bass
to the drawbars on the pedals. I sound like a trio! The added piano and strings sound
great on "Summer Place." Initially I thought this organ didn't do a whole lot, but the more I
play, the more I discover.
When I was a kid taking organ lessons I practiced on a huge old Lowery. My teacher had a
B3 and I looked down my nose at it! Wish I had bought one when they were cheap....
