That's why you really have to do your own A/B comparisons. There are
too many factors that get introduced that affect the sound when you
do video and recording regardless of the quality of the gear used. I
loved the XK-3 that I had but I bought the C1 because I needed 2
manuals. When I did my A/B comparisons I had my B3, my A1, the C1
and the XK-3. I spend days running them all through different
Leslies (21H, 2101) and through different amps (Bose, JBL, etc.). To
my ears the c1 does come significantly closer to the sound of my '59
B3 than the XK, but it really nails the sound of the A1.
No, it doesn't have drawbars and for some people that's a deal
breaker. The beauty of it is that there are now (finally) a lot of
excellent options on the market so there's something out there for
everybody and I'm sure that noone in the audience is going to hear
the difference between any of them.
