Hey Hazzy Ben
I hate to break it to you, but you've got to RTFB .............
:-) ---make sure you have the XK-3 in "upper/lower" mode.
The XK-3 owners' manual is really obtuse -it's the weakest link in
the chain, IMHO...........I've been picking away at it for over 2 years and
I'm only now getting comfortable with the programming !
If you haven't got one already, acquire a CFC card (compact flash memory
card ) in order to save your set-up configurations. It can be really
frustrating to customize and fine-tune your XK-3 and then accidently lose it
all and be forced to re-program the board. With the card, you can get back
to where you left off within seconds .
These cards are cheap............I paid $ 10.00 Cdn. for mine ( a Canon 15
MB card originally designed for digital cameras before the latest variety of
storage devices ). I have 6 setups saved and there is 99% capacity
remaining on the card ! The only caution in selecting a card is to avoid
one that has been previously formatted in a computer.
The card resides permanently in the XK-3's card slot, so the backups are
always accessible within seconds for resets. It will lessen your trips
inside the covers of your Owners' Manual.
You should check out the two XK-3 Users Groups on Yahoo. Their archives
will answer most of your questions .
Good luck .....the XK-3 *will* do what you want.
Patience............grasshopper ;o)
Cheers
