Subject:Brief NAMM report
I have spent the past two days at NAMM.... I have been checking out
Diversi, Hammond , Nord etc.
The two Diversi Clones are definitely exciting. I heard Joey De
Francesco playing it quite a bit yeaterday and also talked to Joey and
his father John plus Tom , Sonja and Rodney from Diversi. The Italian
designers were there as well, and I was able thank them for some work
well done.
There is a lot to be excited about with this instrument. The leslie sim
is QUITE convincing. The tone of the instrument seems to offer the
character of a tonewheel Hammond , and the chorus vibrato is VERY
right. We very well may be at a new level of Hammond simulation with
this instrument. The general consensus is that a real rotating speaker
may not even be a requirement. It seems that good.
I played the instrument a bit on Thursday and the keys felt good, but I
was somewhat limited because of volume restrictions at NAMM. It was
pretty impressive.
There were also volume restrictions at the Nord booth...in fact I could
barely hear the instrument! All I can say is that the C1 keyboard feels
great! The Speakeasy road boxes are there, but I really could not tell
how they sounded.... The Diversi booth offers a little more volume
flexibility.
I have time limitations right now and will post more later. There is
certainly a buzz around the Diversi booth right now.
