Subject:R3-147 still a good option
Browsing through some of my old archive data cd's I ran across a
soundbite test of my (then-owned) R3-147 I rebuilt. I removed the case
and the foam covering of the horn cabinet itself, lengthened the horn
by an 1-1/2 inches with a "diffuser", and rebuilt the entire assembly
into the wooden rack-case I had it set in before--sorry no pictures.
I added the soundbite in Files:jblann1's soundbites.
The R3-147 sounds pretty good with its stock tube pre for its time and
still beats any sim; and if you're into tinkering and modding, this
thing can be a nice "suitcase" leslie that can runstright to any PA.
