Subject:RE: mic'ing RB3


At an outdoor festival last summer the sound man used one microphone on my
RB3. He adjusted it's position a couple of times before he had it "right."
It was slightly lower than the horn and higher than the woofer and about 18"
away. He had a directional mic pointed at an angle to minimize picking up
the drums. Friends told me it sounded awesome and a tape the drummer made
featured comments overheard from the sound guys about how it nailed the B3
sound. The RB3 (250 AMA) was so "present" on stage, they backed it out of
the monitor mix.

I know that I am purchasing a 250 watt RB3 but there are going to be
times to mic it ... who has experience with this? ..... would something
like a Sennheiser E609 set 12" out work for this Road Box or are there
better options ... ay advice is greatly appreciated.
