They're two different models, tube and solid state. The older Pro3TM's
contour control affected its tube preamp and could make the sound more
mellow and cut some highs.
The newer Pro3X has a treble control which ought to affect the treble
output of its solid state preamp. You'd have to hear the two of them
side by side to decide which you'd like better. The difference won't be
earth-shattering, as they're both fine small rotary amps. Wj
