THe only problem is the touring industry has changed a lot, at least at the non-Maria Carey level. Taking a keyboard on commercial flights has become expensive (size and weight issues). If this was 40lbs and could fit in overhead....yay!
As you noted, as a "former gigging keyboardist" you know your equipment is bulky and heavy, and ..... Well as a "still gigging keyboardist" I know my gear is heavy and bulky, and it still doesn't stop me from trying to improve on the heavy n bulky. Unfortunately, while I love my Electro (and have toured it around the world a few times already), I canNOT play piano on it.
If the VA works, it won't be for everybody, but it WILL find a market of people who want it.

The added complexity just doesn't sit right with me, and doesn't justify the minimal benifits. I'd be waiting for the thing to break.
That said, keyboards like the Electro, to me, are pure genius. They weigh (comparitively) next to nothing.
Lastly, I've gotta give them kudos for identifying a market that's been largely ignored. That is, high end, purpose built MIDI controllers/Master Keyboards.
This is all, of course, IMHO.

little adjustment in your technique. My worry would be that someone would
