Subject:Re: Add Pipe organ to your clone! Lap-top Latency?

I use an Echo Indigo PCMCIA card and I have no problems, this has an
ASIO driver.

I host my VST's in Cubase.... My laptop is not a great spec either as
its 4 years old.

The usual rule of thumb is to adjust buffer size until clicks and
stutteriong stops, the larger the buffer the higher the latency, this
is where ASIO support gets around this.... which it sounds like
you've tried...

The only XP related optimisation that it recommended for music
production is to switch the following....

righ click my computer > properties > Advanced tab > performance >
setting > advanced tab > and finally select Background services....

This gives priroity to the lower level ASIO driver rather than any
other application processes....

This is a defacto setting for anyone attempting music production
stuff on a PC. There used to be a big list of optimisations for older
Windows, thankfully these days only one is recommended.

I've actually got this stuff installed on my work laptop, and having
this setting has made no differnce from my day to day work stuff so
its safe to leave it on..
