Subject:Re: Bx3 to C1. Any views??

Hello Demitri...
I have owned both the BX-3 (no longer) and the C-1 (still have
it)...here's my take...
-I love the ergonomics of both, but the BX-3 (especially on it's
stand) is more convincing, because you're behind a big, fairly immovable object
(and only the BX-3 comes with a B-3 style stand).
-If drawbars are an absolute, the BX scores points...although the
virtual drawbars of the C1 are now a piece of cake...
- I love the sound of both, but the Leslie sim points go to the C1
by a hair (although the sim is much more adjustable on the BX)...
- The chorus/vibrato sim goes to the C1, but also not by much...
- The tube distortion simulation to my ears is a wash...I like both
if a tube amp is not available...
-The percussion is equal in the upper end, but in the bottom
octaves, it definitely goes to the C1. It has that Green-Eyed Lady "twock" that I
couldn't get with the BX-3...
- I love the action on both...again a draw...
- There is no pedal input on the BX-3, but the C1 has them...
- The C1 has very believable combo organs (Vox and Farfisa)
included, wheras the BX has 1 somewhat decent emulation of the same....
- Portability factor DEFINITELY goes to the C1 at 33 lbs...
- Build quality...a wash...the C1 has a all metal case, where the
BX-3 is constructed from wood/wood products...
- Programming on the fly probably goes to the C1, which allows 3
different settings to be used for each program...very handy.
- Only the C1 has a 11 pin Leslie output built-in...

...SO...if looks and feel are more important, be swayed towards the
Korg...If portability, pedals, or percussive effect are of prime importance,
lean towards the C1. At my age (52), I love the fact that I can carry a
realistic dual manual B-3 clone with one hand...that's why I sold my BX-3 (which
I loved) to get the C1. They're both KILLER instruments, and you'll no doubt
be thrilled with either one.
