Subject:RE: Getting VSTi's to play on laptop
Tim,
Please read this:

Most of what it says about usenet also goes for mailing lists.
From one of your other posts I managed to distill this as a few answers
to my questions:

> MY MOUSE
Great. Should have asked this. This means we can narrow the problem down
to the communication between keyboard and computer.

First, make sure the keyboard gets power. Any lights that light up on
it?
Does Windows make a sound when you plug it into the USB port or unplug
it?
Any dialog boxes or balloons popping up saying something about drivers
being installed, not being found or the device being ready to use?
Does it show as a MIDI interface in Windows Device Manager?
(which version of windows are you using?)

Try starting the standalone version of B4 and go to its Setup screen,
then MIDI.
Find the MIDI interface you are using. Next to it there is probably
something that says OFF. Click on it so it switches to ON. Try again.
If this helps, do the same in your VST host software. Somebody else
already explained this in an excellent way.
