Subject:Leslie mic question
I've been doing some reading of old posts here and wherever else I
can find some info about micing up a Leslie cabinet.
I'm hoping to acquire a 122 soon and I'm trying to think of a way to
mount some mics inside it. I saw Bruce Wahler's Idea and it looks
great, but I'm also considering using the Kobitone's like the one's
in my KBR-3D. The price alone makes them at least worth a try.
Problem is, I know that on my KBR-3D the mics are so hot that I have
to adjust the levels on them to just barely on so they don't distort
at the mixing board.
So my question is:
How or what could I use or fashion to put the brakes on those mics if
I use them?
Ideally I'd like to have a simple trim pot sticking out of the back
of the cabinet (ala on the MS KBR-3D)if possible. My overall plan
would be to mount XLR male jack plates on the back of the cabinet,
one each for left & right on the horn and another for whatever mic I
use for the low rotor. I'm just afraid that the Kobitone mics will be
too hot if left untamed based on my experience with my MS amp.
