Subject:My Nord C-1: The First Month
As of today it's 4 weeks since the Nord arrived. I am so satisfied with it I
can't even describe it! It's all THEY (a lot of YOU guys) said it is. With
no exaggeration, it's a B-3 less 392 pounds!
Per a suggestion from Bruce I used the swell pedal that came with my v.2
CX-3. It needed no internal setting up on the organ; there's a menu at which you
can set whatever brand pedal you have, to the organ, but this wasn't needed.
And though I saw many postings about re-wiring various half-moon switches,
last week I ordered a Nord switch. This arrived Saturday - at first, I was
getting chorale/tremolo but not the brake function. So, I used the "rotary
control" (I think it's called) menu and set it to HA. It's been right ever since.
Summing up, since 1986 I've played/owned several Hammonds and clones. I
haven't been this pleasantly knocked out with an instrument since my first
Hammond (M-102/Leslie 760) came, and even that wasn't anywhere near the joy that
this Nord is...
I won't go into all this organ is about; most of us already are familiar
with it, I'd imagine... however if anyone is even CONSIDERING the purchase of a
clone, if you choose a Nord C-1 you're basically getting a tonewheel Hammond
Organ with beautiful Leslie sound, weighing 33 and not 425 pounds... ABSOLUTE
Hammond satisfaction!
Best - Adam
