Subject:OT : YouTube in 1985 ?

Anybody knew the little fact that YouTube began in 1985
as shown in this episode ?

They talk about VHS tapes and uTube subscription process:

Looks very funny but I wonder how they proceed with digitalization
A/D those days without proper codecs, sorry but I switched to DVD
just a few years ago so don't know the intricacies of A/D (analog to
digital) video history.

Could be true or it's just people kidding ?
