Subject:Re: I Need Advice on Replacing the Woofer in a Leslie 147, Please!!
Hi Rob,
Before you invest in a new speaker, you should consider having the
original speaker reconed. It will save you money and be as good as new.
If you do decide to buy a new speaker, I highly recommend WeberVST's
15A200 AlNiCo 16 ohm woofer. It's a reproduction of the original Jensen
P15LL woofer. I replaced a C15L with the 15A200 in my 142 and it sounded
more bassy. You can get one from Tonewheel General Hospital for a decent
price. I think they're more expensive if you buy from Weber directly.
It's pretty simple to replace the woofer. Just remove the 8 screws
holding the woofer in place on the baffle, unplug the 2 pin EBY plug
from the crossover, and carefully lift the speaker out of the cabinet.
When replacing the woofer, make sure the metal bracket over the baffle
is centered and that the belt remains on the rotor pulley. You can order
the 15A200 with or without the wire harness.
I think that's about it.
