Tom, I know. You and I worked for the same company way back when although we didn't know each other then, we knew some of the same people.

I just posted that the group Paramore used a Hammond guy John Freund (http://www.myspace.com/thejohnfreund) from the HAM forum to put Hammond tracks on their latest album. Paramore is a group early teens listen to. A departure from the screamo bands that don't use a Hammond sound like Linkin Park. Although in fairness to Linkin Park, they argue over whether they can perform things live so tend to put guitars on everything even if keyboardist Mike Shinoda wants to add organ...

How do we make organ cool again? By finding young groups like Paramore, Mike Shinoda, and getting them behind the organ. I know the thrust has been to cater to guys our age which is fine and dandy but are seeds being planted in the yungin patch? This means you guys will have to graft yourselves onto the up and coming gen of songwriters and find those that have hit potential, sneak in your Diversi. Get these song writers to write for organ. Isn't that the way we got into it because we heard some song that spoke to us and they used organ?

You've got Joey behind you and he must know some movers and shakers in the recording industry.

Or come up with a contest that will offer a band a recording contract if they can write a hit song using organ. It will take Moan-Eh though...and you will have to really American Idol-ize the effort...

A performer has always been a lead singer, who has no visual obstructions. A guitar is less of an obstruction but many performers who play guitar fare better without it. And some look better with one on. We may not get someone sitting behind even a streamlined clone to stick out on a stage as the trend has locked itself into just a person's body. Let's face it, sex sells.. But we can try and get organ music back into bands and music on the iPods. This is also what we are up against. The visual aspect. Even Auger's Trinity was upstaged by Long John Baldry's lead singer performance in the '60's.

Economics always plays a part in everything we do. A kid's parents can see spending $199 on Fender Squier Strat Pack that comes complete with guitar, amp, tuner, strap, cord, picks and stand...And this is because guitar heroes are abundant.

?Some charismatic young artist who just happens to love organ pops up on the scene. Think of another Reginald Dwight but behind the organ.

Case in point. Check out this kid who posted his youtube song playing plinky lines on a cheap synth. He was emulated and chastised.

Then you see him in a world famous group's video. Being himself:

He's not playing organ but he's playing a keyboard. And because of his Chocolate Rain song, and unusual style with deep lyrics, he caught attention.

It's the Pied Piper effect.
