I was thinking the same thing. The world loves mediocrity..When I think of a singer I would think of Aguilera over Shakira...Shakira is modern Charo but with all due respect to Charo she was talented on Flamenco guitar and had a thick Spanish accent, so she let on, which prevented her from crossing over, hence a few wiggles here and there kept her in the limelight.
As our instruments morph into the next needed version, we will always weigh the classic version of an organ player, Virgil Fox, Barbara Dennerlein, Felix Cavaliere, and the many B3 greats, all limbs flailing, up against a modern pop/rock/jazz/blues version whose hands only drawbar/leslie/chordings/solos have thrust him or her into the limelight. Kicking pedals is fine and a definite extended talent, but hiring a bass player to do the bass work while you're free to use your hands is acceptable also like Auger..to name just one of the many.
If some want the classic version of the organist to live on, two hands and feet, then the makers of organs better make sure that they continue to make these instruments.
Clearly the future of the organ lies in the hands of the manufacturers. If trends control the production runs, then when the trend goes back to the classic version, and a company has ceased production because of demand, if the vintage organs are not kept up and/or new ones produced, the future will be bleak.

Shakira fans are nuts about her vocal abiliities...) - and if people ask me: it's also about mediocrity - with some?rare exceptions.
