Subject:Re: The furture of the Organ and it's Main streaming.
Same here. People notice and like my organ playing. That is because the gigs (I play my XK.3 system with a gospel choir and piano in a jazz trio BTW) are usually attended by people who love and usually know their music.
The trouble is mainstream pop/rock/r'n'b music which is all about the image (I find it hard to believe that all , say, Shakira fans are nuts about her vocal abiliities...) - and if people ask me: it's also about mediocrity - with some rare exceptions. So the "music industry" (or what's left of it) certainly plays almost no part in maintaining the Hammond's popularity. This will always start from enthusiasts. Since CD sales are more and more made available by the artists themselves (same as legal downloads) who build up a fan base through web communities and live gigs, there is hope for quality music - and for the Hammond.
I'm not whining. I am happy that the Hammond is still with us and that there is more information than ever around and readily availabe about this great instrument.

My experience has not been so dire as people seem to be posting on this
list. I seem to have no trouble getting noticed and I get lots of
compliments whenever I play. I'm just sitting there having a good time. And
that's just sitting in with bands playing standard blues and rock.
When I do a jazz gig, people are even more attentive.
