when I found the only existing 8M in LA that I could actually try and
buy, I used headphones to demo it at the Fountain Valley GC, only GC
I could find in the southern California area that was willing to let
go of one after an open the box demo...only GC Hollywood had one
before finding the one at Fountain Valley, but didn't want to open
it....all the other GC's further south of LA didn't... and I'm from
the Oceanside area...

It turns out that all the VK gear I like a little/lot better than the
other clones... unless I'm feeling a little 'moody' ha ha. My
favorite probably has to be the VK7 midi'd to a VK8M sitting on top.
It plays so smoothly and comfortable and has the added bonus of the
VK7 Edit screen passing everything on (AFAIK) to this point except a
few things like switching Local On/Local Off which affects the System
on the VK8M, and not being able to change Leslie sim speeds (which
after this discussion may not be so important). You have to set those
few parameters on the VK8M manually and they'll stay that way until
you change them. All the other controls work including OD from the
VK7 when playing. I have 1 VK8, 2 VK7's, 2VK8M's and 2 VK760's. I'm
kind of a compulsive buyer (with the caveat that it has to be
something I like) so if I'm surfing eBbay at 3 AM and find a listing
about to end with no or too cheap bids, I'll put in a bid and am
surprised that every so often I get something good.

Now after this fresh info, I'll want to find a no-tweeter big amp. My
amps are Motion Sound or PA with the big tweeters, or open back
guitar amps. Are the Marshall(s) Jon Lord uses, closed back
bass/guitar amp or Leslie with all the motors off? I have one of
SE's "Road Kill MK II" <-new term) 200w cabinets with both rotors.
It'd be interesting to find a good amp for this application.
