Subject:Re:Sheet music resource
There's a Catch 22 at work here.
Most of the good players either learned by ear, or made a transition from
written music to playing by ear years and years ago.
At any rate, these people have little incentive and little patience to
transcribe stuff out. Hence a lack of written music demonstrating this stuff
- accurate transcriptions are HARD, and are a drag.
I recommend transcribing pieces yourself. Pick easy ones first, please don't
start with Oscar Peterson. The learner is more motivated to transcribe than
an established player, and can develop their ear at the same time.
Secondly, find a player and take a few lessons. They can show you more in a
few hours than you can get from sheet music in months.
