...pretty nifty! ...and when you hear the difference from the gutsy
organ leslie to the gutsy non-rotary organ compared in this
particular clip, for some reason you can really hear almost how he
got there, and think "I could do that." Too many players looking for
the Jon Lord sound MASSIVELY overdo it, so when you hear them -
you're thinking, "Why would I ever want to have a sound like
that!?" ...but when you listen to this clip up close and personal
with his simple explanation you want to start going out to the garage
and digging through your old tube stuff. Although it can be gotten
without tubes if you want to dig into "how." It's nice that he's so
self-effacing about not wanting to do long solos once he's hit a good
lick that sounds fine - like "lets move along now; I'm not that
good." There's nothing like a man knowing his limitations and still
working right up to the edge of what they are. Wj
