Subject:VK8m Chorale setting/ Try turning upper rotor spin OFF
Hey VK guys ( or anyone else ).
I tried a new chorale setting that I really like.
Quite simply, I now have my upper rotor speed TURNED OFF. Why? For
one, the upper rotation greatly effects percussion -patrticularly
third harmonic.
Plus when you turn on the overdrive, all the "grind" goes to the
woofer, and focuses in the lower rotating effect.
I am finding that the lower rotor "spin" is all I really need to get
the chorale effect. I am also using a very slow spin...probably the
slowest, which is a bit unlike the real thing, but for me it is the
most effective. I am using the close mike distance on the lower but
no upper spin whatsoever.
It took me a while to realize it, but having two separate "spin"
cycles on a leslie sim causes all kinds of phasing problems. And it
really alters the percussion harmonic. Now I am getting an un
affected percussion sound from my sim, and use all the "fireworks"
for fast speed only.
Check it out. The VK8 and 8m both have a PHENOMENAL leslie sim.
