here's a hopefully larger view of the original key assembly on a Hammond console..

Until new B3's become old
B3's we have to make do with salvaged old B's to experiment on clone
controllers. Not unless somebody personally knows this guy:

Hey Tomiyuki San, how's about whittling me up a nice clone controller out of them new B3 parts you've invented?

If you look at the key switch assembly it is a series of 9 "leaf springs" that the "plunger" goes through. The resistance of the perpendicular relationship of the key channel to the "plunger" adds varying types of resistance.both upon pressing and releasing from the key channel and as it relates to those "leaf springs." What substitute would be needed to be invented to duplicate this device?? It would take as you say, a serious attempt as some type of plunger system supplying the same resistance to the key would be needed to approximate the original feel.

Even the new B3's Direct analog contact system is a similar albeit
smaller version of the original with a different key channel system,
somewhat duplicating the tried and true.. If these manuals were available as single part outs, it would be smaller and maybe lighter than the originals but I'm just guessing on the weight. From the pic,? the key assembly looks smaller than in the pic above. Would make a nice clone controller tho....

I don't subscribe to your theory - I don't think a serious attempt has
been made yet to replace the key contact stack with a switch
exhibiting the proper mechanical resistance, travel, and trigger
point. Duplicate these, and you will not miss the original contacts.
At any rate, it should play better than the clone waterfall keybeds,
which are hinged and sprung nothing like real Hammonds.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
