Subject:Re: Poor man's waterfall keys (was: Altering action on non- weighted keys ?)

Hi there,

I just did a modification to my Edirol PCR-80 to make the action
smoother. At first I was thinking of replacing the tension springs
with longer ones, but then I figured I could just remove them and
extend one of the loops with a pair of small plyers, which actually
makes the springs longer.

I like this new action much better than the original stiffer action.
It just feels closer to a Hammond. If you have an old controller and
don't care about the resale value, you can try it on a few keys to see
if you like it. It takes less than an hour once the keyboard is open.
I don't know how other keyboards are made but on mine it was easy.
