This is something else that has me confused. I thought the AMA was for
modern solid state rotary speakers so that you can get tube overdrive.
What exactly does it do for the Roadbox or a Leslie that already has a
tube power amp? Or are you talking about bypassing the Leslie's own
power amp (not that I can imagine why you'd want to do that)?

You are correct, it's for solid state amplification; the new input for Hammond's was more an accommodation for Dave Bradley who wanted to record with as many leslies as he could fit into one warehouse (kidding!), and basically, assuming you have the 600watt megabeast, allows you to get all the tones you'd get from a standard leslie with your Hammond, but at the volumes you could NEVER get from one...or two....or.....
