Subject:Re: Another Boss RT-20 question

What I found with the RT-20 was that, yes, since it's an effect -
it "colors" the sound which is to be expected from an effect. I also
found that the Type II Leslie effect was the best. The smallest
changes on the parameter controls provided the best results, only
moving a tiny amount, about the width of the line on the knob, away
from the center detent position for the ramp/speed times. In a rush
setup situation, the RT-20 sounds fine with all the parameters in the
center detent position, and only the Overdrive Off, Direct Off, and
the input at about the 'E' of the Effect control using the Type II
Leslie. My opinion, the simpler you set this effect the better,
like "less is more." I had the same experience with the Korg
Toneworks G4 a while back. My VK8 and Electro have a better/different
Leslie simulation, so I wouldn't use the RT-20 with them. I think
it'd be fine with a Voce V5+ for a very good simple set up
Hammond/Leslie sound. Since each pedal on the RT-20 is about the same
as a sustain pedal that you'd plug in to many rotary effects to
control them, it actually works the best set up on the floor, and the
two pedal switches feel like they'd last years. Wj
