Subject:Re: Another Boss RT-20 question

Hi Joe,

I have had my RT-20 for just over a week, and I am still trying to decide if it alters the
tone. I have used it live twice, and I spent a few nights at home messing with it with
headphones and trying it with different drawbar/chorus/percussion settings on my OB
-3^2. I think the lower and mid range sound really good and very authentic. Your
standard 888800000 sounds pretty good in the upper octave, but it seems the more
drawbars you pull (for example, 888888888), the more you may notice some un-
desireable treble 'digital-ness' if that makes sense. This opinion seems to be echoed in
the reviews on Harmony Central, which I read thoroughly before even considering the
pedal.

I have never sat behind a real B3/Leslie, I am only comparing the sound to my Pro3tm/
KC500. I believe that the lower-rotor sound on the RT-20 sounds more authentic than the
rotor sim on the Pro3tm, but the upper octave, especially on settings such as 888888888
sounds better on the Pro3tm.

One listmember responded to my original question if a Speakeasy preamp would help, and
he said yes.

All in all, though, the sound is very convincing, and just the solution for people who don't
want the hassle of lugging a bunch of equipment, and like ease of setup.

I just read your original question again, and if you are wondering if the pedal adds tube
warmth or the Hammond/Leslie warmth, I would say no.

Thanks
Marc
