Subject:Leslie CU-1 Half-Moon switch dampening...

OK. I was trying not to post the same message to 2 different
forums.....but here it is. (nothing really exciting, but I'm working
on a mod...)

I've been trying to dampen the sounds of my CU-1 half-moon switch. So
far 50% success.

I took some of those 1/4 inch felt dots that you use for protecting
furniture from knick-knacks and things and trimmed the round edges of
2 sides, just a bit. And wrapped them around the shaft, just below the
tear-drop shaped plastic knob. That silences it very well when going
from center to either "on" state, chorale or tremolo.

It still has a noisy click when I return it to brake, so the next step
will be to take it apart and find out what is making the clicking
noise inside the mechanism when it is returned to brake state.

If you have one of these "New" Leslie CU-1 half-moons, you know what I
am talking about. Noisy as hell! At least now it's only noisy when
returning to brake, but it needs more padding somewhere.

When my XK-3c gets here, I'll be able to take the switch off (and
unplug it) and see what's inside.

Has anybody else done this and maybe has some tips as to what to look
for inside the mechanism itself?

I like using it, but it sure is loud!
