Subject:What TONY sez....

And your point is.....????

Did Steve announce a new product or service? NO.(But you know that.)

Did such non-announcent include a price, spec sheet, marketing collateral, or inventory list? NO. (But you know that.)

Did Steve announce he loves his new Nord Stage, and include a video clip of him playing it? Yes, as do many other members here with their Youtube clips, myspace mp3s, etc. (So far, well within the charter; but you know that.)

Did Steve deride you, insult you, start a flame war, etc? NO. (But you know that.)

Has Speakeasy been held to a lower standard than any other manufacturer or service provider here? NO. (But you know that.)

In fact, other manufacturers have been permitted to post mp3s about products they don't even have the courtesy to name, thus we're being led to believe the mp3s we're hearing may be of a clonewheel nature, when in fact, they may not (said manufacturer makes...excuse me, eventually will produce clonewheel organs if we are to believe their announcements here, as well as non-clone organs). But other than queries as to what it is we are being "marketed", we have not grieved said manufacturer. So, it can be said, that Steve is actually being held to a higher standard than other's.

As for the possible implication that I may be accused of flaming, I offer the following literal translations of my one and only non-factual commentary:

Troll, per dictionary.com:

troll: An electronic mail message, Usenet posting or other (electronic) communication which is intentionally incorrect, but not overtly controversial (compare flame bait), or the act of sending such a message. Trolling aims to elicit an emotional reaction from those with a hair-trigger on the reply key. A really subtle troll makes some people lose their minds.

and.....

to fish for or in with a moving line, working the line up or down with a rod, as in fishing for pike, or trailing the line behind a slow-moving boat.

OK.......
I went into the files section a read the charter for this group. Have any of
you seen it lately?
It says -
Members who produce products and services may make a ONE TIME announcement
of this fact.
It should NOT include price lists , spec sheets, SOUND SAMPLES marketing
collateral or inventory lists.

Also it states that flaming - a verbal or written tirade using derisive or
abusive language - will not be tolerated . Abusers of the rule will receive
one written warning. Repeat offenders will be removed from the list.

Those are some of the very basic guidelines that it has been suggested that
this group follow.

I am not a person who thinks that all laws are golden and who is out to bust
people etc. What I am concerned about is whether or not I am participating
in an environment where all participants receive equal treatment.

Unfortunately it seems to me that there are persons and organizations on
this list that are able to violate the guidelines , and some of the popular
consensus is that it is OK if they do.

I am still waiting to hear from the moderator on this.
