Subject:Re: Full Range amp for organ (good pedal tones)

Most bass amps will do just fine for the range of freqs that a Leslie
is capable of. Bass amps will go as low as 17hz with good power and as
high as 12khz or more depending on the brand. SpeakEasy makes a sub
woofer to add on to a Leslie or Motion Sound speaker. The Leslies high
end drops off greatly in db's starting near 5 khz. A bass amp will do
the same. In fact the leslies best output is at around 2k. On either
side of that you see a 20 to 40 db drop making the Leslie more of a
midrange speaker mostly. So a bass amp will give you better low freqs
in dbs than a Leslie and comparable high end output. The mid range may
not be as strong but you seem to be more interested in the bass end.
Strange synth sounds on the other hand need an amp with a better high
end so I would guess that a regular keyboard amp would be best for
that. I believe I am on the mark with this but you can borrow a bass
amp and try it out on your organ rig. I just use a Leslie but I have
seen just a bass amp used alone and also in tandem with a Leslie. So
whatever floats your boat I guess.
