Wow, that is too bad. Probably the only component on
the main board that is "bad" is the micro-controller
itself. The really sad thing is, since I am in the
electronics field, I KNOW those things do not cost
$600. More like $6, if that much. Removing the old
micro and soldering in the new one requires special
equipment which most people do not have. In looking
at the whole main board, I would guess it might cost
Korg about $50 max to make it since there are very few
components on it. It is not uncommon for something to
sell for about 600% or 6x the cost which should make
that board cost about $300, in my opinion of course
:-)

I was thinking of upgrading my CX-3 to v2.0, but in
light of the mentioned experiences, I think v1.0
sounds OK to me. I wonder how many success stories
there are at upgrading. I know Bruce has several, but
I wonder what the failure rate is.
